Medicine Disposal

Can I return unwanted medicines to the pharmacy?

Certainly, we are happy to dispose of medicines on your behalf. We can accept tablets, liquid medicines, creams and ointments, powders, inhalers and ampoules.

What about sharp objects like needles or syringes?

We cannot accept return of needles or any other sharp items and to protect the safety of our staff we urge you to check that nothing hazardous is brought back. If you use needles or sharps at home we can supply a "sharps bin" for safe storage and disposal of used items. Sharps bins are available on prescription and are particularly useful for patients with conditions where injections are administered at home.

To discuss the disposal of sharps or special waste please contact Bath and North-East Somerset Council Waste Services on (01225) 394041
